Kefalonia Island
Kefalonia is the largest of the Ionian Islands. Its central location combined with
the unique landscape
and natural beauties combine to make it one of
the most popular destinations in the Ionian.
Countless beaches with fine
bleached sand and turquoise waters as well as the picturesque
villages
make the island one of the most peaceful and charming places to visit.
The Ionian Islands have been influenced by many cultures. You can see
the influence of the
Venetians in Kefalonia from the castles in Assos and
Argostoli to the Italian and Greek architecture
in Fiskardo. The picturesque
landscape and dramatic cliffs of the western coast contrast with the
gentle
sand and shingle beaches of the south. Vineyards of the famous Robola
wine meet with the Kefalonian pine trees that reach the top of Mount Ainos at
over 1600 meters above sea level.
The weather and sailing conditions as well as its geographical central location with
respect to the
other Ionian Islands make it an ideal place to start your sailing holiday.
